Art – rivers

I found a copy of this book in the sale in Asda the other day and am now planning to use it to inspire an art project as part of our topic on Water and Rivers. The book tells the story of a crate of rubber ducks who are lost overboard a ship and drift off in different directions, each meeting different animals. The illustrations are wonderful, and use several different techniques to depict the water in different conditions.

I’m planning to get the class to create their own versions of the story about something which falls into a river (near the source) and follows the path of the river, passing different animals (science revision – habitats) and different features and uses of the river (geography) before ending up in the sea.

This will hopefully provide a relaxed, creative project to balance out some of the hard work of SATs revision.
