I’m going to add my planning and resources for this unit as I do them.

This is an online bookshop, but you can download extracts (usually the opening chapter) of many books. Very useful for descriptions of settings, different ways to start stories, etc.

This BBC site has a wide range of stories available to listen to online, including stories by authors such as Paul Jennings and Morris Gleitzman. They’re in Real Audio formats, so you’ll need to download Real Audio Player.

I came across the BookTrust website today, and thought it might be useful to others. I was particularly inspired by the myths section and ideas for using The Fire Thief by Terry Deary.
